Adobe Trail-Highway 101 Pedestrian/Bike Path Overcrossing
Zoon Engineering expertly managed all aspects of construction for this pedestrian overcrossing. The steel truss structure spans 10 lanes of Highway 101 and the East and West Bayshore frontage roads, featuring concrete voided slab approach structures on both sides. The total length is approximately 1,200 feet, complemented by a separate 147-foot steel truss bridge over Adobe Creek.
The project encompasses an electrical joint trench for electrical and fiber trunk lines, paving for the 600-foot-long Adobe Trail, and extensive work in lighting, irrigation, landscaping, and drainage.
Zoon Engineering oversaw the project budget and schedule, ensuring compliance with FHWA and Caltrans requirements. The team coordinated all source inspection and materials testing while collaborating closely with Caltrans oversight engineers to guarantee project compliance. Additionally, Zoon Engineering worked extensively with Caltrans construction managers on adjacent projects in the Highway 101 corridor, facilitating lane and full freeway closures necessary for bridge erection.
