Zoon was responsible for managing all aspects of construction management for this pedestrian overcrossing. The skewed structure spanned eight lanes of highway across Highway 101 and including construction of a sophisticated falsework system and electrical signals and lighting, and drainage and utility relocations. We managed the project budget, schedule, enforcement and oversight of FHWA and Caltrans requirements. We also coordinated all source inspection and materials testing and worked with Caltrans oversight engineers to ensure proper project compliance. Zoon coordinated extensively with Caltrans construction managers on adjacent projects in the Highway 101 corridor, for lane and full freeway closures required for falsework erection. By identifying unnecessary items of work, such as the relocation of a waterline, Zoon was able to keep the project two months ahead of schedule and under its $10M budget.
